Record videos with your phone and laptop
Learn how to pair your phone camera with CueStudio on your laptop, prepare a script, record a take, and transfer the original video directly between your devices.
What does CueStudio do?
CueStudio is a browser recording studio for scripted videos such as tutorials, product demos, and course lessons. Your phone records the original video while your laptop or desktop gives you a larger preview, a script editor, and recording controls.
You do not need an account or a mobile app. Your phone joins the studio through its browser. This workflow uses two devices: the phone supplies the camera, and the desktop controls the studio.
Before you start
Use recent Chrome on your laptop or desktop and a recent phone browser. The recommended setup is desktop Chrome on macOS with iPhone Safari; Android Chrome is also supported. Connect both devices to the same reliable Wi-Fi network.
Open CueStudio over HTTPS, charge your phone, and place it where the camera can frame you comfortably. Mobile data, VPNs, and restricted hotel or corporate networks can prevent the devices from connecting.
Pair the phone and prepare your take
Open CueStudio on your desktop and choose Open studio. Scan the studio QR code with your phone, open the camera page, and allow camera and microphone access. Keep the phone page open in the foreground.
Check the shot in the desktop preview. Paste or write your script, adjust the prompt text size, and choose a manual pace or English AI follow. The near-lens phone prompt helps keep your words close to the camera.
Record and wait for the original
Start recording from the studio when you are ready. Your phone captures the original take; the desktop preview is there to help you monitor the shot.
After stopping, leave the phone page open until transfer completes. The take travels directly from your phone to your desktop. A server handles temporary connection details, but it does not receive your footage or script.
Finish the video
Once the original arrives, use the built-in editor to trim the take, add a title card, choose a color look, and generate English captions. Choose a wide, square, or vertical frame before export.
Keep the original recording as well as your finished edit. Available video file formats depend on your browser’s encoding support. If pairing fails, check the shared Wi-Fi, permissions, and whether the phone is still in the foreground before creating a fresh session.
